Polina Fedotova
|
Polina Fedotova, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, was born in Moscow; her father is Victor Fedotov, conductor of the Marinsky (Kirov) Theater of St. Petersburg.
Beginning her piano studies at a very early age, she won Second Prize at the Concertino International Youth Competition, in Prague, when she was 13. Fedatova graduated from the Moscow Conservatory's Secondary Special School in the class of V. Kunole and, in 1981, entered Professor Y.Malnina's class at the Moscow Conservatory.She continued her studies there with Professor V.Kastelsky's class at the Moscow conservatory and received her Master's Degree.
In 1990, Fedotova received the Moscow Rachmaninov Competition's Diploma Award, and in 1991, was awarded Third Prize at the Chamber Music Competition in Trapani, Italy. In 1992, she won First Prize at the Chopin International Competition in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
A soloist of the Moscow State Philharmonic Society, Fedotova concertizes throughout Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and Europe, and teaches at the Moscow Conservatory. The compositions of Chopin occupy a special place in her repertoire, and her programs often include works by Liszt, Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Ravel, and Prokofiev.
